Description
Fertomid 50 mg
Fertomid 50 mg contains an active ingredient called Clomiphene Citrate. It is generally administered by oral route, it is available in tablet Form. Fertomid 50 mg?is used for treating female infertility and for certain conditions as determined by your doctor. Fertomid 50 mg is an ovulatory stimulant. It works by helping to produce more hormones that cause your ovaries to release.
What is this medicine?
Clomiphene is a fertility drug used to increase the chance of getting pregnant. It is used to help women ovulate (produce a mature egg) properly during their cycle. Compared to other fertility treatments, clomiphene alone does not greatly increase your chances of having multiple babies. An increased chance of having twins may occur in roughly 5 out of every 100 women who take this medication. Occasionally clomiphene is prescribed to men with fertility problems due to low sperm counts.
How Fertomid 50 mg used and works?
To understand why and how clomiphene is used, it is important to have a basic understanding of normal ovulation. Normally, a woman?s ovaries produce one egg every 24 to 35 days. Ovulation usually occurs about 12 to 14 days before the next menstrual period. A woman?s best chance for becoming pregnant occurs around the day of ovulation and one to two days before ovulation. This would be approximately 12 to 14 days after the first day of a 28-day menstrual cycle.
Women who are most likely to respond to clomiphene include those with polycystic ovary syndrome. Women who are unlikely to respond are those with absent periods and very low estrogen levels due to low body weight or exercise, or those with high follicle-stimulating hormone levels, an indicator of ovarian aging early menopause or primary ovarian insufficiency.
Fertomid 50 mg works at the level of the hypothalamus where it competes for estrogen binding places. When these places are occupied by Fertomid 50 mg, the hypothalamus responds by producing more gonadotropin releasing hormone, which then stimulates the pituitary to produce follicle-stimulating hormone.
In a normal cycle healthy follicles produce estrogen, which signals the hypothalamus to reduce production of follicle-stimulating hormone. Women must monitoring their follicular development via ultrasound and blood tests to measure estradiol.
